To work with soapstone you need special tools, including a file or stone rasp, fine and coarse sandpaper, water-based sandpaper, natural resin oil or a stone polish, a base, water, a cloth and a bowl. First we shape the soapstone into a rough shape.
 
Then use rough and fine sandpaper and, if necessary, drill a hole for hanging. All rough edges are smoothed with the coarse sandpaper, then with finer sandpaper. The work of art can then be further sanded or polished and finished with natural oil.
