Special tools are required to work with soapstone.
This includes a file or stone rasp, fine and coarse sandpaper, water sandpaper, natural resin oil or a stone care product, a pad, water, a cloth and a bowl. We first bring the soapstone into a rough shape,
For this you use the stone rasp or the file. 
Then coarse and fine sandpaper is used and possibly a hole is drilled for hanging.
All rough edges are smoothed with the coarse sandpaper, then with finer one. After that, the work of art can be further sanded or polished and refined with natural oil.
